This show saw Andrew Eldritch telling HoB staff to turn off the house overhead TV monitors so that the audience's attention would be focused on the stage itself. But of course Andrew also had his tech crew set up foggers onstage, and by the time the band came on you could barely see them. A couple songs in, the fire alarms went off and emergency house lights were activated. I believe the Cleveland Fire Department showed up, but were sent away after learning the alarms were triggered by the band's toys. Midway through the concert, the stage was completely obscured by smoke and you only got an occasional glimpse of the guitarists, or Andrew's forearms gripping the mic stand. And the venue's emergency lights remained on--staff shut them off, but they kept going on because the band never turned off the foggers. You'll hear some people calling for staff to deactivate them, but it was out of their control. A lot of folks got up and left. You really couldn't see much of anything onstage. People unawares that SoM don't have a live drummer wouldn't have known the difference--Doktor Avalanche was completely shrouded in smoke.
Also includes the SoM soundcheck, courtesy of a friend on the inside.
